Jack in the Green volunteers will be out dressing the streets this coming Friday and Saturday. They will be visiting The Old Town and All Saints Street on Friday 29th April, and can help to decorate shops for a donation to the festival funds.
If you would like to help out further, or collect greenery to decorate your house or shop, feel free to join our official collecting party setting off from near the swannery in Alexandra Park this Wednesday 27th April at 4pm. Bring secateurs and a bin bag to collect lots of lovely live greenery.
We are thrilled to offer our OFFICIAL Jack in the Green merchandise, sales from which help to keep our lovely little free festival running.
High quality screen printed t-shirts with this year's logo will be available in a range of sizes, alongside badges, mugs, books, and other items. Come and buy them at evening events during the weekend, or from our authorised Facebook seller, Ellbee. On Monday, look out for our official green merchandise tent near the stage.
Thanks to Last Light Printing Studios for the excellent printing!
Listen up folks, there's a change to the advertised start time to one of our events.
The all-new Spring Explosion show from the excellent Vocal Explosion will begin at 8pm on Sunday 1st May, not 8:30pm, as previously advertised. Oops!
This has been corrected on our website, and should be correct on all of Vocal Explosion's promotional material, but the time in the printed programme is not the right one, sorry! We will remind everybody closer to the date, but please pass this information on to anyone who may be interested.
Spring Explosion is the seasonal offering from Vocal Explosion, who've teamed up with Garry and Edd Blakeley to deliver a rousing evening of music and song, inspired by the ancient Celts and contemporary English folk. It promises to be an excellent show, and now you've got an extra half an hour to talk about it afterwards!
Here they are folks. The long awaited posters and programmes for this year's Jack in the Green. They will be hitting the streets of Hastings this week. Pick up a programme from your local pub, cafe, or participating shops.
You can now also find programme information right here on the Jack in the Green website, on the 'What's On?' page. We've got some fabulous acts gracing the venues around Old Town, and can't wait for the fabulous weekend to start!
We are very excited to reveal the artwork for this year's Jack in the Green!
The stylised image shows Jack himself alongside Barry the Sweep. Chimney sweeps are key to the Jack in the Green celebrations, and Jack himself is thought to have originated from the sweeps' large and elaborate May Day garlands that could cover an entire man.
Hastings sweeps take part in the May Queen celebrations on Sunday, and accompany the May Queen in the procession. Our sweeps, including Barry, are the genuine article.
Look out for this year's artwork on the posters, programmes, and 2016 JITG merchandise.
